Summary of What We Do and Who We Are

We provide investment management, financial planning, investment advice, and similar services. Our income is entirely based on fees for services undertaken for you. We do not earn commissions. Therefore, we only care about what is best for you.

Investment Philosophies

Investment management has built in risks and dangers. The stock market can go down as easily as it can go up. In general, the greater the risk the investor is willing to accept, the greater will be the profit over the long term. In the short term, greater risk can destroy you. There can never be a guarantee of what profit or loss to expect.

We manage each portfolio based on the profile of the owner. We start with an in depth interview with our new client.  We look at each client's ability to absorb risk, personal goals, age, income, etc.  It may end up taking several interviews.  Based upon this assessment, we agree upon an investment plan. We pick investments for each asset class (small cap, large cap, etc) that meet the requirements of the plan, keeping in mind the income and estate tax effect. We may choose mutual funds, stocks, bonds, etc. in U.S or foreign markets.  Our main focus, however, is with passive mutual funds.

As both a CPA and CFP®, Daniel Dollinger is uniquely qualified to focus on each client's total picture.  He has deep experience in income tax and investments.  They should be looked at together in any investment decision.

We insist that all portfolios be well diversified into many investments, with no single holding accounting for more than a small percentage of the total portfolio. Diversification has been proven to reduce risk.  Before we use a mutual fund, it has to have a proven record, have minimal expense ratios, and be no load.  The use of class asset allocation is standard among the better financial planners in the country. Investments are in general held for long periods.

Trading, with occasional exceptions, is kept to a minimum other than to balance the allocations among each asset class, create cash for distributions, or to invest new contributions. Over the long term, this approach has greater returns with less risk than does an approach using active trading. We believe that attempting to time the market, and in particular Day Trading, yields poor profits over time because of administration costs and income tax effects.   We rebalance each account on a quarterly basis - as the market and your needs both can change. We reevaluate your risk profile as often as you wish. We suggest annually.

Investment management services are billed as a percentage of assets under management.  The percentage is lower on larger accounts.  The fee is most typically about 1% per year split into monthly installments.  The fee is swept directly out of your investment accounts.  Of course, all investment advice and planning you might need would be without additional charge.

We earn no money from any other source than this fee.  We do not earn commissions or referral fees and have no financial interest in selling you a particular investment.
